In the dynamic world of education, there are individuals whose influence extends beyond classrooms—those who serve as true catalysts for change within their communities. Sister Watcharaporn Nakpansa, an alumna of Assumption University of Thailand (AU)'s Graduate School of Human Sciences, has become one such beacon of inspiration. Graduating in 2018 with a Master of Education in Educational Administration, she has since transformed her passion for inclusive education into a lifelong mission, garnering recognition, praise and accolades along the way.

This October, Sister Watcharaporn was among the esteemed honorees celebrated at the “Vanakunathorn” award ceremony, held at the National Culture Center of Thailand. The award, presented by the Minister of Culture, recognized 210 individuals whose dedication to cultural and community service has had a significant impact. Sister Watcharaporn’s inclusion among this distinguished group is a testament to her tireless commitment to educational equity and social betterment.
Currently, Sister Watcharaporn is the Director of Mandawanarak School in Buriram province, where she works relentlessly to uplift the quality of education. Since leaving Assumption University, she has enhanced education for marginalized communities by collaborating with non-governmental organizations and local authorities to create educational opportunities for rural children, ensuring that the transformative power of learning reaches those who need it most. Her advocacy for accessible education has earned her widespread respect, both for her strategic acumen and her unyielding compassion.
The Vanakunathorn award ceremony included a beautiful cultural performance titled "Suksayam" and a video presentation about the work and values of the honorees. For Sister Watcharaporn, the event was not just a recognition of her work but also a celebration of the principles that guide her—community, empathy, and the power of education to uplift lives. She stood among monks, youths, and laypersons—all recognized for their significant contributions to Thai culture and society.

The Minister of Culture, in his congratulatory speech, highlighted the importance of individuals like Sister Watcharaporn in nurturing a culture of care and empowerment through education. "Education should never be a privilege," she says, reflecting her dedication to making learning accessible to all. It is this belief that drives her every initiative and every collaboration, whether organizing teacher training workshops or advocating for more mental health resources in schools.
Rector Magnificus, Rev. Bro. Bancha Saenghiran, expressed his pride in Sister Watcharaporn's achievements: "Sister Watcharaporn represents the very best of what Assumption University stands for. Her work is a powerful testament to the transformative impact our alumni can have on society when they lead with compassion, dedication, and a commitment to uplifting others. We are incredibly proud to see her honored in such a meaningful way."
Her journey from an AU student to an award-winning community leader is a true reflection of Assumption University’s core values. Sister Watcharaporn embodies the AU spirit of fostering graduates who not only excel professionally but also contribute meaningfully to the world around them. Her work in expanding educational access and empowering future generations serves as an inspiration to many, reminding us that real leadership is about lifting others and paving the way for a better tomorrow.
Sister Watcharaporn's success is a proud moment for Assumption University and a powerful reminder of the impact that compassionate, educated leadership can make in society. As she continues her mission in Buriram, her story remains one of perseverance, passion, and a steadfast commitment to shaping a brighter future for all.
