Under the cool and beautiful January skies at Thammasat University’s Rangsit Campus, a team of determined athletes from Assumption University of Thailand (AU) proved that grit, teamwork, and dedication pay off. Competing in the 50th Thailand University Games, known as the “Thammasat Games,” AU’s athletes returned victorious with an impressive haul of 12 medals across a range of disciplines, putting them among the most formidable private universities in the nation.
The tournament, held from January 9 to January 18, saw over 110 universities battle it out for glory. AU clinched 28th place overall and ranked 13th among private institutions, an achievement that highlights the university’s commitment to excellence in sports.
A Medal-Worthy Performance
The team’s standout performance included:
🏊 1 Gold Medal
Ms. Ploylapus Chaiprasit (Martin de Tours School of Management and Economics) captured AU’s only gold medal in Hapkido Female (C) -60 kg, dazzling the audience with her precision and strength.
🥉 3 Silver Medals
Ms. Natwara Rattanachotikornkul (Martin de Tours School of Management and Economics) displayed relentless determination in Hapkido Female (F) +70 kg, securing a silver medal.
Mr. Atiwit Kornphom (Thomas Aquinas School of Law) earned silver in Hapkido Male (D) +65 kg and -70 kg, showing exceptional skill.
The Golf Men’s Team—comprising Mr. Akarachai Sakunlee and Mr. Noppakrit Jirapiboomsuk (both from Theodore Maria School of Arts), Mr. Supakrid Chettanak (Martin de Tours School of Management and Economics), and Mr. Kanniti Nilon (Albert Laurence School of Communication Arts)—secured silver with a near-flawless performance on the course.
🥈 8 Bronze Medals
Tennis Men’s Doubles: Mr. Pat Kongkitpakorn (Theodore Maria School of Arts) and Mr. Nathan Jattavapornvanit (Martin de Tours School of Management and Economics)


Tennis Women’s Doubles: Ms. Melissa Jidapa Zeh and Ms. Natthapat Piwbangruk (both from Martin de Tours School of Management and Economics) brought home bronze, as did Ms. Melissa Jidapa Zeh in Tennis Women’s Singles.
Golf Women’s Singles: Ms. Kenika Boonprasert (Theodore Maria School of Arts) clinched another bronze.
Golf Women’s Team: Ms. Natchaphat Nuchsawas (Martin de Tours School of Management and Economics), Ms. Kenika Boonprasert, and Ms. Pusita Purahong (Theodore Maria School of Arts) proved their mettle with a bronze-winning performance.
Hapkido Female (D) +60 kg and -65 kg: Ms. Patcharaporn Sukamon (Theodore Maria School of Arts) secured AU’s first medal in this category.
Jujitsu, Weight - 56 kg: Mr. Clement Taechine Berrie (Theodore Maria School of Arts) impressed with his agility and strength to win bronze.
Taekwondo Female’s Kyorugi +73 kg: Ms. Natwara Rattanachotikornkul added another bronze to AU’s medal count.
Woodball: A Demonstration Sport, A Demonstration of Skill
In the demonstration sport of Woodball, AU excelled with:
🥉 1 Silver Medal in the Men’s Individual Match Play, earned by Mr. Komkrit Mitsamant (Vincent Mary School of Engineering, Science and Technology).
🥈 1 Bronze Medal for the Men’s Team, including Mr. Thanakrit Phenkhoksung, Mr. Nabhop Ratanaploy (Theodore Maria School of Arts), Mr. Sitthinon Tangcharoenphatthana, Mr. Bhudinun Sriornrod (both from Martin de Tours School of Management and Economics), Mr. Komkrit Mitsamant, Mr. Souksavanh Phonephachanh (Albert Laurence School of Communication Arts), and Mr. Siwakorn Tumnao (Vincent Mary School of Engineering, Science and Technology).
The games also highlighted AU’s growing strength in sports, with athletes from various disciplines showing their ability to compete against the best in the nation.
