On October 23, 2024, Assumption University of Thailand (AU)’s Office of Thai Arts & Culture, Student Affairs, joined in honoring the memory of His Majesty King Chulalongkorn (King Rama V) at Equestrian Statue Square. This special day, known as Chulalongkorn Day, is held every year to remember the life and achievements of one of Thailand’s greatest kings.

King Chulalongkorn is highly respected for modernizing Thailand and building strong relationships with major world powers like Britain, France, America, and Russia. During his 42-year reign, he traveled extensively, strengthening ties with other countries and European royalty. His efforts shaped the future of Thailand, making the country what it is today.

While his historical significance is reason enough to visit his statue, Equestrian Statue Square in Bangkok’s Dusit District is also a symbol of national pride. The bronze statue, built in 1908 to celebrate the 40th anniversary of his reign, is a popular spot for ceremonies, especially on Chulalongkorn Day. AU’s team placed a wreath at the statue to show respect and appreciation for King Rama V’s lasting legacy.

This event is part of the university’s ongoing mission to promote Thai culture and history to students and the community.
