The President of Assumption University of Thailand, Rev. Bro. Dr. Sirichai Fonseka, has visited the Confederation of Tourism and Hospitality (CTH) in London this week, aiming to forge new academic collaborations in the fields of professional tourism and hospitality training. He was accompanied by Rev. Bro. Dr. Monthol Prathumrach, Vice President for Special Affairs, and Assist. Prof. Dr. Kitti Phothikitti, Vice President for Educational Innovation and Graduate Studies.

The delegation was welcomed by CTH’s Steve Beckworth, Director of Marketing, and Mellissa Lo, Senior Official, as part of a week-long visit to explore potential partnerships that could enhance the career prospects of AU students entering these growing industries.

CTH, established in 1982, has spent over 40 years as a specialist professional awarding body dedicated to providing globally recognized qualifications in hospitality, culinary arts, and tourism. With a network of over 200 approved teaching centres worldwide, it delivers career-focused qualifications to thousands of students annually. The organization is known for its unique approach, working closely with industry partners to ensure its programs remain relevant and valuable to both students and employers.

Speaking about the visit, Rev. Bro. Sirichai said, “This visit is a significant step in our mission to offer world-class education in tourism and hospitality. CTH’s expertise and strong industry connections make them an ideal partner, and we are eager to explore future collaborations that will offer our students unparalleled opportunities for academic and professional growth.”


 

 

 

During their time in London, the AU team toured CTH facilities and met with senior officials to discuss potential initiatives that could include student exchanges, internships, and collaborative research projects. The partnership is expected to pave the way for a new era of cooperation between the two institutions, benefiting students looking to make their mark in the global tourism and hospitality industries.

CTH officials also expressed their enthusiasm for the new relationship, noting the potential for a long-lasting partnership that could contribute to shaping the next generation of tourism and hospitality professionals.
