WRITER: VINCENT MARY SCHOOL OF ENGINEERING, SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY

On October 27, 2024, a group of 55 including 6 faculty members and 49 students from Assumption University of Thailand (AU) arrived in Chengdu, China, marking the official start of a week-long engineering, technology, and cultural exchange program with Xihua University. Students from  Vincent Mary School of Engineering, Science and Technology ,Theodore Maria School of Arts, Martin de Tours School of Management and Economics, Bernadette de Lourdes School of Nursing Science, and Louis Nobiron School of Music,  engaged in academic exchanges and cultural experiences, enhancing their expertise in engineering and technology while deepening their understanding of traditional Chinese culture. This collaboration program was led by Vincent Mary School of Engineering, Science and Technology and Theodore Maria School of Arts.

During the program, students participated in a variety of cultural activities, including paper cutting, Chinese calligraphy, and traditional Chinese painting, which allowed them to experience the unique charm of Chinese art. Beyond cultural experiences, the program included specialized lectures on topics such as new energy vehicles, artificial intelligence, and the humanities, broadening the students' professional perspectives. Visits to the Sichuan Science and Technology Museum and Tianfu Art Park offered AU faculty and students deeper insights into China’s technological advancements and contemporary art, fostering a richer understanding of China’s innovation and culture. Everyone has participated in the Traditional Tai Chi which was conducted by Tai Chi’s master.

 
 
 
 
 
 

 

 
 
 
 

At the closing ceremony, students reflected on their experiences and insights gained at Xihua University, expressing that the study tour had been enriching both academically and culturally, laying a solid foundation for future cooperation between the two universities. This program further strengthened the academic and cultural ties between Thai and Chinese universities, contributing to the internationalization of higher education in both countries. The group arrived back to Thailand on November 3, 2024 with full of knowledge and enjoyment.
