We were warmly welcomed by Khun Varayu Santavanond, Senior Vice President and Head of Education who led an insightful experience sharing session. This interactive fireside chat featured senior executives from Krungsri’s corporate banking team, including Khun Saran Sasanavin, Executive Vice President, Head of Global Corporate Banking Division, Khun Thongchai Vajapattana, Executive Vice President, Head of Corporate Banking Division and Khun Mongkol Thiratanapong, Senior Vice President, Head of Corporate Banking Department 5. Each of them generously shared their expertise and perspectives with the students.

The session began with an overview of Bank of Ayudhya PCL, now part of Japan’s MUFG (Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group). As one of Thailand's leading financial institutions, Krungsri Bank offers a comprehensive range of financial services. The focus of the discussion was on corporate and investment banking, with insights into how the bank structures its teams by customer segments, supported by functions like client services and credit analysis.

During the fireside chat, students gained deeper insights into the day-to-day responsibilities of a relationship manager. While many might assume banking is all about number crunching, a large portion of the relationship manager’s role involves building strong client relationships and collaborating with internal teams to tailor solutions that meet client needs. We also explored how the corporate banking team handles a diverse range of clients—from global corporations to local Thai businesses and SMEs—while navigating the credit consideration process and implementing risk mitigation strategies.

In reflection, Khun Suphanattha Subsumruay shared that “Visiting Krungsri Bank provided valuable insights into the world of corporate and investment banking. The interactive and open discussion helped me better understand the industry and how decisions are made.” Khun Nuttaphong Kongsamran added, “We learned that while theoretical knowledge is essential, it’s not everything. In finance, soft skills and relationship-building are key to creating trust and successful partnerships in corporate banking.”

On behalf of the Graduate School of Business and Advanced Technology Management, we extend our sincere thanks to the leadership team at Krungsri Bank for hosting this invaluable learning experience. The school's mission is to enable students to balance theory with real-world practice, and experiences like this fireside chat are essential in creating learning opportunities that extend beyond the classroom. We look forward to continuing our collaboration with Krungsri Bank for many more years to come.
