In a lively corner of Assumption University, the CL Plaza was transformed into a vibrant linguistic and cultural exploration hub. For two days, from September 4 to 5, students, faculty, and visitors gathered to participate in the IELE Language Café 2024, an annual event designed to immerse participants in a world of language learning beyond the confines of the traditional classroom.

Titled "Languages Beyond the Classrooms," the event featured many activities promoting diverse language skills. The central attraction was a spirited poster contest, where students creatively showcased design tips for mastering new languages. Additionally, the atmosphere was filled with laughter, the scent of snacks, and engaging games—each subtly laced with educational elements.

Organized by the Institute of English Language Education (IELE), the event brought together various faculties and programs, offering sessions in Business English, Business Japanese, and General Education among others. The activities extended beyond mere language practice, with booths from departments like the Graduate School of Human Sciences (GSHS) and the Confucius Institute of Assumption University (CIAU) contributing to the multicultural ambiance. The IELE is grateful for the sponsorship from Major Cineplex, Senka Thailand, Falicia Thailand, and J-education.

Attendees remarked on the diverse learning opportunities, praising the event for breaking down the walls of traditional language education. "This is what real learning feels like—engaging, immersive, and fun," said one participant, who eagerly participated in the games.

The event's organizers from the IELE stressed the importance of making language learning accessible and interactive. "In a globalized world, knowing a language is not enough," one organizer commented. "You need to experience it, to live it, and that is what we aim to offer here."

The “Tips For Language Learning” poster contest was a great success. The contest posters can be found at http://www.iele.au.edu/

As the sun set on the final day, students and faculty left with new phrases in their heads and, for many, a renewed enthusiasm for language learning. The event served as a reminder that education can thrive in the most unexpected places when taken out of the classroom.
