WRITER: THE AU LIBRARY
On November 14, 2024, Assumption University of Thailand (AU) welcomed a distinguished delegation of 35 students from Heilongjiang University, China, for a visit aimed at fostering academic exchange and exploring collaborative opportunities. Organized by AU’s Office of Graduate Studies, the visit emphasized both universities’ commitment to enhancing international cooperation in education, research, and cultural exchange.


A Day of Academic and Cultural Exploration
The delegation, visiting from Heilongjiang University—a highly respected institution known for its expertise in languages, sciences, and international studies—had the opportunity to experience AU’s vibrant academic and cultural offerings firsthand. The day began with a formal welcome at St. Gabriel's Hall, where presentations from AU faculty set the tone for an engaging dialogue on shared goals and innovative projects.
The delegation’s itinerary included a tour of AU’s renowned Albert Laurence School of Communication Arts studio, where they explored the state-of-the-art facilities that support cutting-edge education in media and communication. This visit underscored AU’s commitment to providing students with hands-on experiences in creative and digital media, an area of particular interest to Heilongjiang University, given its focus on language and cultural studies.
The delegation then toured the ASEAN-China Art Exhibition titled “Covenant of Mountains and Seas,” which celebrates cultural harmony through art and collaboration. The exhibition provided a unique insight into Southeast Asian and Chinese art traditions, fostering appreciation for the diverse cultural expressions that bring ASEAN and China closer together. The Heilongjiang representatives expressed admiration for AU’s efforts to bridge cultural divides through such creative initiatives.
Finally, the delegation visited the Vincent Mary School of Engineering, Science, and Technology, where they engaged in discussions on AU’s innovative programs in engineering, science, and technology. The delegation was particularly interested in AU’s focus on sustainable technologies and cross-disciplinary research, areas aligned with Heilongjiang University’s expanding STEM programs.


Exploring Future Collaboration
Throughout the visit, AU and Heilongjiang University team explored potential areas for collaboration, including joint research projects, faculty and student exchanges, and shared cultural initiatives. Both institutions are excited about the prospect of creating more pathways for students and faculty to experience global learning.
