The Bernadette de Lourdes School of Nursing Science (BLNS) at Assumption University of Thailand (AU) continues to redefine the role of academia in community development through its ongoing collaboration with Klong Kaja (Pongsombat – Bumrung) School. Since the signing of their Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in 2022, the partnership has focused on providing academic services, fostering research collaborations, and creating meaningful practicum opportunities for nursing students and faculty members alike.
On November 15, 2024, BLNS representatives, led by Dr. Pimsiri Bhusiri and Dr. Saw Yu Thanda, extended their heartfelt congratulations to Ms. Nongnuch Kumnoi on her recent promotion to Director of Klong Kaja School. This milestone underscores the strength of leadership driving the partnership forward. Ms. Kumnoi’s vision aligns seamlessly with BLNS’s mission of nurturing the next generation of healthcare professionals while addressing the immediate health and educational needs of the local community.
In a productive meeting, the BLNS team and Klong Kaja School leadership, including Mrs. Naraporn Thongchai, Head of the Academic Department, discussed practical ways to enhance their collaboration. Central to their agenda was the health assessment of grade five and six students, alongside targeted health education initiatives tailored to the children’s needs. Dr. Bhusiri, a specialist in Pediatric Nursing Science, outlined strategies for delivering these services while ensuring a hands-on learning experience for nursing students.
“Education and health are the twin pillars of community empowerment,” noted Dr. Pimsiri Bhusiri, highlighting the transformative potential of such partnerships. The initiatives discussed will not only benefit the students but also offer nursing practitioners an invaluable opportunity to develop skills in real-world settings.
As the partnership enters its third year, it stands as a testament to AU’s commitment to blending academic excellence with community service. The BLNS and Klong Kaja School collaboration is a shining example of how higher education can work hand-in-hand with local schools to nurture healthier, more informed communities.
