Assumption University of Thailand (AU) held its annual WaiKru Ceremony at the John Paul II Sports Center, Suvarnabhumi Campus. The event, organized by Student Affairs and the Assumption University Student Organization (AUSO), was a heartfelt tribute to the bond between students and teachers, honoring the tradition of paying respect and expressing gratitude.
The ceremony began at 12:00 P.M. with freshmen and student representatives gathering at the sports center. At 1:30 P.M., the event commenced with a homage-paying ceremony to King Rama X, marked by the Thai Royal Anthem. Ms. Chonchaya Sornlert, Project Director, provided a detailed report on the Wai Kru Ceremony 2024, setting the tone for the day's events.
The core of the ceremony featured the Wai Kru ritual, where students presented floral homage objects to AU administrators and faculty members. Mr. Teanruj Wiboonpin, President of AUSO 2024, led the Pledge of Fealty, reaffirming the students' respect and commitment to their educators.


Rev. Bro. Dr. Bancha Saenghiran, AU President and Rector Magnificus, delivered an inspiring speech, emphasizing the importance of the student-teacher relationship and the values upheld by Assumption University. “The Wai Kru Ceremony is a testament to the respect and reverence our students hold for their teachers. It is a beautiful tradition that strengthens the bond between us and sets the foundation for a nurturing and supportive academic environment,” said Rev. Bro. Dr. Bancha Saenghiran.


The ceremony continued with the presentation of Achievement Certificates to honor students by Dr. Soonthorn Pibulcharoensit, the University Registrar. Rev. Bro. Dr. Bancha Saenghiran also presented Student Leader Pins, recognizing the leadership and dedication of AUSO members. Mr. Teanruj Wiboonpin delivered a welcoming speech, expressing gratitude and encouragement on behalf of the student body.
The event concluded with the singing of the Sadudee Assumption Song, a tradition that unites the AU community in a harmonious celebration of their shared values and aspirations.
AU remains committed to fostering a culture of respect, gratitude, and academic excellence, exemplified by the Wai Kru Ceremony. The university looks forward to continuing this cherished tradition in the years to come.
