Beneath the gentle glow of an autumn sunset, Assumption University of Thailand (AU)’s Suvarnabhumi Campus played host to a poignant ceremony Friday evening: a tree-planting event honoring His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua’s (Rama X) 6th Cycle Birthday Anniversary.
Held on November 22, 2024, the event, part of the nationwide "72 Million Trees for Forest Restoration" project, saw faculty, staff, and students gathering behind the Faculty of Medicine Building to plant trees as a tribute to His Majesty's 72nd birthday and his commitment to sustainable development.

Organized with meticulous care, the event reflected the dual purpose of celebrating a national milestone while underscoring the urgent need for environmental stewardship in a world facing climate challenges. The initiative drew participants into a shared mission of honoring His Majesty’s environmental vision through tangible action.
The President of AUSO said “As the world faces severe environmental crises and global warming, resulting in natural disasters, unpredictable weather patterns, and deteriorating ecosystems, the Student Organization recognizes the need to promote awareness among students about caring for the environment. This includes fostering a sense of responsibility and action toward addressing these issues, starting with sustainable environmental development within the university.”

The "72 Million Trees for Forest Restoration" project, launched to commemorate His Majesty’s birthday, aims to restore Thailand’s natural forests and promote ecological balance across the kingdom. It also serves as a testament to His Majesty’s longstanding dedication to preserving the nation’s natural resources—a commitment grounded in the sufficiency economy philosophy championed by his father, the King Bhumibol Adulyadej.
The trees planted during the event are expected to flourish as enduring symbols of this legacy, each representing not just ecological progress but the shared aspirations of a nation united in gratitude for its monarch.
For AU, the evening was a testament to its commitment to His Majesty’s vision for Thailand — a future rooted in sustainability, harmony with nature, and collective prosperity. As the last tree was planted and the crowd dispersed, there remained a palpable sense of hope and responsibility, a reminder that the seeds of today will shape the landscape of tomorrow.
