Assumption University of Thailand (AU) proudly hosted the highly anticipated AU Camp 2024: The Monopoly, bringing together new students, faculty, and staff for a day of competition, camaraderie, and community building. The event, held on June 15, 2024, at the John Paul II Sports Center on the Suvarnabhumi Campus, was a resounding success.

Rev. Bro. Bancha Saenghiran, President and Rector Magnificus of AU , delivered an inspiring opening speech, welcoming the new students and setting the tone for the day’s activities. Below is the full text of his speech:
It is my great pleasure to welcome you all to AU Camp 2024: The Monopoly. Today, we gather to celebrate the spirit of competition and camaraderie. These values are at the heart of our community here at Assumption University.
First and foremost, I want to extend a warm welcome to all our new students. You are now part of a diverse and vibrant community. We are dedicated to excellence in education, moral development, and service to society. Your journey here will be filled with opportunities to learn, grow, and make lasting friendships.
The theme for this camp, "The Monopoly," represents the many paths and opportunities that lie ahead of you. For those who might not be familiar, Monopoly is a popular board game where players navigate through various properties, make investments, and try to achieve success. It's a game of strategy, risk-taking, and learning from both wins and losses. Just like in Monopoly, you will make choices, face challenges, and strive to achieve your goals here at Assumption University. Remember, success is not just about winning; it’s about learning from each experience and growing stronger with every step you take.
I remember when I first joined the university many years ago. One of the senior Brothers told me, "Bancha, the journey of education is like playing a strategic game. Sometimes you land on good opportunities, and other times you face obstacles, but it's the lessons you learn along the way that make the journey worthwhile." This wisdom has stayed with me, and I hope it resonates with you as well.
At Assumption University, we are committed to providing a holistic education that nurtures not only your intellect but also your character. Our Vision, Mission, and Vision 2000 guide us in fostering an environment where academic excellence and moral integrity go hand in hand. Education here is about more than just gaining knowledge; it’s about discovering the “Treasure Within” yourself.
As you embark on this exciting journey, I encourage you to embrace every opportunity. Participate actively in all activities and build connections with your peers and mentors. This camp is just the beginning of a transformative experience that will shape your future.
Let me share a story about a former student, Napat, who attended this very camp a few years ago. Napat was initially shy and hesitant to participate. However, through the activities and interactions with fellow students and mentors, he gradually opened up and discovered his passion for community service. Today, Napat is a successful social entrepreneur, running projects that help underprivileged communities across Thailand. His journey started right here, at AU Camp. I hope his story inspires you to step out of your comfort zone and seize every opportunity.
I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to all the organizers, faculty, and staff who have worked tirelessly to make this event possible. Your dedication and hard work are truly appreciated. Special thanks go to our student volunteers, whose enthusiasm and commitment ensure that this camp runs smoothly.
In closing, I wish you all an enjoyable and enriching experience at AU Camp 2024. May this camp be a stepping stone to a successful and fulfilling academic journey. Remember, the friendships you make and the lessons you learn here will stay with you long after you leave this campus.
Thank you, welcome to Assumption University and May God Bless You ALL!

Rev. Bro. Bancha Saenghiran tied sacred threads for the new students and joined in singing with them during the closing activities.
Special thanks to the Assumption University Student Organization 2023 (AUSO 2023) and all student activity units for their efforts in organizing this event over the past two months.
