In a landmark achievement, Mr. Kong Vibol, the Minister Attached to the Prime Minister and Director General of the General Department of Taxation (GDT) in Cambodia, successfully defended his Ph.D. dissertation at Assumption University of Thailand. His research, titled Key Strategic Drivers to Reform and Transformation of the General Department of Taxation (GDT), Cambodia marks a significant step forward in the ongoing efforts to modernize Cambodia's tax system.


The defense took place in an atmosphere of academic rigor and professional pride, with Mr. Kong Vibol presenting his innovative ideas before a distinguished panel of experts. The committee was chaired by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nuttawut Rojniruttikul, with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rawin Vongurai serving as his advisor. The committee also included Asst. Prof. Dr. Nopphon Tangjitprom, Dr. Somsit Duangekanong, and Dr. Witsaroot Pariyaprasert, all of whom brought their extensive expertise to the discussion. Rev. Bro. Verayuth Boonpram, V.P. for Research and Academic Service, also attended the defense and offered support and encouragement.
During his presentation, Mr. Kong Vibol outlined the strategic drivers necessary for the transformation of Cambodia’s General Department of Taxation. His research delves into the integration of innovative technology management and strategic reform processes that are critical for enhancing efficiency, transparency, and fairness in Cambodia's tax collection system. His study not only reflects a deep understanding of the challenges facing Cambodia’s GDT but also offers practical solutions that are both timely and essential for the nation's economic growth.
Mr. Kong Vibol's dissertation was met with unanimous approval from the committee, who praised his work for its originality, depth, and practical relevance. His research is expected to have a significant impact on the future of taxation in Cambodia, potentially serving as a model for other nations facing similar challenges.



Following the successful defense, Mr. Kong Vibol and the committee members were treated to a special tour of the Assumption University campus. The tour provided a glimpse into the rich history and vibrant academic life of the university, highlighting its world-class facilities, serene environment, and the integration of modern technology in its educational practices. The tour not only served as a celebration of his academic milestone but also as an inspiration for future collaborations between Cambodia and Assumption University.
With his Ph.D. in Innovative Technology Management now officially conferred, Mr. Kong Vibol is poised to lead Cambodia’s General Department of Taxation into a new era of innovation and reform, guided by the principles and insights he has meticulously developed during his studies.
