On September 12, 2024, Rev. Bro. Dr. Sirichai Fonseka, President of Assumption University in Thailand, led a delegation to visit both Xihua University and Sichuan Communications Vocational and Technical College in China. These visits were part of Assumption University's ongoing efforts to strengthen educational ties with Chinese institutions and explore new opportunities for cooperation.
During the visit to Xihua University, discussions centered around enhancing cooperation in education and talent training. Rev. Bro. Dr. Fonseka expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and reiterated Assumption University's commitment to deepening strategic cooperation. The two institutions signed a series of agreements, including the Agreement on Joint Construction of Engineering Doctoral Program and Joint Training of Master and Doctoral Students aimed at fostering high-level talent development and creating new avenues for academic collaboration. "We look forward to expanding our academic partnerships and fostering innovation in education and research," said Rev. Bro. Dr. Fonseka.


Liu Shugen, Party Secretary of Xihua University, and Fei Ling, Vice President, along with Dr. Kitti Phothikitti, Vice President of Assumption University, underscored the importance of deepening cooperation, particularly in engineering doctoral programs and the joint training of students. The signing of the agreement marked a new chapter in Sino-Thai educational collaboration.
Later in the day, the delegation visited Sichuan Communications Vocational and Technical College, where they signed an agreement for a Sino-foreign cooperative education project focused on New Energy Vehicle Engineering. This partnership also saw the establishment of the Sino-foreign Cooperative Education International Campus.


President Chen Bin of Sichuan Communications Vocational and Technical College welcomed the delegation and provided an overview of the college’s history, achievements, and its strategic role in China-ASEAN educational cooperation. The new agreements aim to deepen educational exchanges and foster innovative development in international education between China and Thailand.
Rev. Bro. Dr. Fonseka highlighted the significance of Sino-foreign cooperation, noting that the collaboration would serve both institutions' educational needs and contribute to international education in Southeast Asia. "This partnership sets a new benchmark in the transportation industry and strengthens the international influence of both our institutions," he remarked.
These visits reinforced Assumption University's commitment to building robust academic partnerships and advancing education across borders, further cementing its role in promoting high-quality, innovative learning in both China and Thailand.
