WRITER: DEPARTMENT OF GENERAL EDUCATION

In the academic year 2025, the Department of General Education introduced a new course, GE 2305 Contemporary Health Issues, designed for students who want to be well-prepared in physical and mental health and basic life support, a crucial skill for first aid. The course covers practical lessons on identifying symptoms of heatstroke, which can be life-threatening if not treated promptly, as well as choking first aid and CPR steps. The course is structured to provide a comprehensive understanding of these health issues, focusing on practical applications and real-life scenarios.

Arjarn Sasiluk Srisutraporn, an expert in her field, has designed this course to ensure that AU students have proper knowledge of basic life support. Her aim is for students to apply these skills confidently in real-life situations. To facilitate this, she plans to conduct a hands-on CPR demonstration each semester, allowing students to put their learning into practice.

By attending, participants will learn the practical aspects of CPR, build confidence in responding to emergencies, and enhance their professional profiles in healthcare, education, and public service. The CPR demonstration will be a hands-on session where participants can practice CPR on mannequins under the expert guidance of our instructor, ensuring a secure and confident learning environment. These skills and experiences will benefit their future careers and lives in emergencies, equipping them with the necessary tools to handle critical situations.

Last week, February 17, 2025, from 10.00-12.00, students enrolled in GE 2305 for semester 2/2025 actively participated in a CPR first aid practice at SR 101, and on February 18, 2025, from 13.30 to 16.00, and February 19, 2025, from 9.30 to 10.40 at the 2nd floor AU LibraryASEAN corner. The event was a great success, with students confidently and precisely demonstrating their newly acquired skills, showcasing their active role in the workshop's success.

They gained valuable skills, were thrilled, and thoroughly enjoyed the class activity, making it an impressive and enriching experience. We hope this learning journey will pave the way for their future life success and inspire them to continue their learning journey.!!!
