Assumption University of Thailand (AU)’s Vincent Mary School of Engineering, Science and Technology (VMES) has announced its latest initiative to address Thailand’s growing demand for highly skilled aviation professionals. In partnership with Wefly Aero and backed by a generous 9 million THB sponsorship from the Thai Professional Qualification Institute (TPQI), the Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Workforce Development Program will launch this August and run through December 2024.

VMES is a leader of this project. The five-month program is designed to equip 45 participants with both theoretical knowledge and practical hands-on experience, as part of a national effort to advance the country's aviation capabilities. Training will take place at Photharam Airport, where participants will engage in Maintenance, Repair, and Operating (MRO) operations, while VMES will function as the official Maintenance Training Organization (MTO).

“This partnership marks a significant step forward in ensuring that Thailand has the talent to meet the rapidly evolving demands of the aviation industry,” said Assistant Professor Dr. Narong Aphiratsakun, Dean of VMES. “We are proud to be at the forefront of this development, offering our students and industry participants the opportunity to gain invaluable experience from leading industry professionals.”

One of the program’s highlights is the selection of 15 outstanding candidates who will be eligible to sit for the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) certification exam, positioning them for future careers on the international stage.

With this initiative, VMES underscores its commitment to producing highly qualified graduates ready to take on the challenges of an increasingly globalized aviation industry. The collaboration between Assumption University, Wefly Aero, and TPQI further solidifies the school’s role as a leader in cutting-edge engineering education.
