From November 19 to 28, 2024, Mr. Glen Chatelier of Assumption University of Thailand (AU) visited multiple partner institutions in China. During his visit, he delivered thematic lectures and intensive English courses, injecting fresh momentum into Sino-Thai educational cooperation and academic exchange.
In-Depth Exploration of Globalized Education: From Geely College to Xihua University
On November 19, Mr. Glen Chatelier delivered a lecture at Geely College to an audience of over 100 students, titled “Trends in Global Higher Education and the Unique International Practices of Assumption University.” Students actively engaged in discussions, exploring the impact of globalization on academic development and career prospects.
From November 20 to 21, Mr. Glen Chatelier visited the School of Economics and the School of Foreign Languages at Xihua University, engaging in discussions on “Trends in Global Higher Education and the Unique International Practices of Assumption University.” Students at Xihua University eagerly posed questions, exploring the role of English and economics in globalized education, showcasing their interest and understanding of international education.
During the lecture, Mr. Glen Chatelier provided an in-depth analysis of the impact of globalization on educational opportunities, curriculum design, and teaching methods. Using Assumption University as a case study, he shared insights and achievements in building a multicultural academic community and promoting international educational cooperation.
Focus on Practical Skills: Enhancing Students’ English Proficiency
From November 21 to 27, Mr. Glen Chatelier conducted intensive English courses at Chengdu Polytechnic for the 2024 cohort of Mechanical Manufacturing and Automation students in the joint Sino-foreign education program. The course emphasized presentation skills and listening practice, using interactive teaching methods to enhance students’ practical English application. This initiative further laid a solid foundation for their future academic and professional development in an international context.
Supporting Sino-Thai Academic Exchange: Thematic Lecture at the Panda Workshop Cultural Week
On November 28, during the 2024 Panda Workshop: Thai Meets Chengdu Sino-Thai Cultural Exchange Week held at Chengdu Polytechnic, Mr. Glen Chatelier delivered a lecture to over 70 Chinese and Thai students. The lecture, titled “Globalization and Education: Advancing Sino-Thai Strategic Regional Cooperation through Academic Exchange,” provided an in-depth analysis of educational exchange models in the context of regional internationalization. He also highlighted the critical role of academic collaboration in fostering the development of Sino-Thai relations.
During his visit to China, Mr. Glen Chatelier's series of lectures and teaching activities not only strengthened the ties between Assumption University and several Chinese institutions but also fostered deeper Sino-Thai collaboration in the field of education through lectures and practical teaching. His activities offered students a global perspective, showcased a model of internationalized higher education, and injected new energy into Sino-Thai educational and cultural exchange.
