On September 14, 2024, Dr. Apichart Intravisit, Program Director, Master of Arts in Fine Arts, AU, visited Chengdu, China, where he participated in a series of academic exchanges focused on art and culture. Dr. Apichart’s visit included stops at Southwest Minzu University and Chengdu Vocational University of the Arts, followed by a tour of the Guanghui Art Museum’s Beauty in Time: China's Silk Road Heritage Digital Activation Technology Art Exhibition. The visit strengthened Sino-Thai collaboration in art education and cultural exchange.
At Southwest Minzu University, Dr. Apichart was warmly welcomed by Zhai Yitao, curator of the university’s art museum, along with esteemed faculty members. Together, they toured the university’s teaching and practice centers for Chinese painting, oil painting, printmaking, and photography.
A scholar deeply passionate about art, Dr. Apichart expressed great interest in the university's diverse teaching practices. He engaged in rich discussions with both faculty and students on teaching methodologies and artistic creation techniques. Zhai Yitao also shared the university’s profound heritage in ethnic culture and art, explaining how traditional elements are integrated into contemporary art education. The exchange of ideas on preserving ethnic art and merging it with modern artistic practices laid the groundwork for potential future collaborations.
This visit fostered deeper discussions not only on art education but also on future cooperation in artistic projects and faculty exchanges. Both universities expressed a strong interest in exploring collaborative opportunities in art creation, teaching reform, and ethnic cultural studies, with the goal of promoting ethnic art on a global scale.
Dr. Apichart next visited Chengdu Vocational University of the Arts, where Zhuang Jinsong, Dean of the School of Environmental Art, led a tour showcasing the college’s Environmental Art Design program. Dr. Apichart gained firsthand experience of the innovative facilities and teaching methods used at the college. He praised the seamless integration of art and technology in their curriculum, highlighting it as an important trend in the evolution of modern art education.
During his visit, Dr. Apichart also delivered a lecture on Thai culture to students and faculty in the college’s academic exchange hall. His talk covered traditional Thai art, modern design, and Thailand’s cultural development, offering students a richer understanding of Thailand's artistic heritage. The lecture concluded on a high note, with many students expressing keen interest in future exchanges and studies in Thailand.
In addition to his academic engagements, Dr. Apichart visited the Guanghui Art Museum to view the Beauty in Time: China's Silk Road Heritage Digital Activation Technology Art Exhibition. The exhibition showcased Silk Road heritage using cutting-edge digital technology, blending cultural preservation with technological innovation. Dr. Apichart praised the creativity behind the exhibition, noting how digital technology opens new avenues for cultural preservation and offers exciting possibilities for art creation and education.


This visit not only deepened the friendship and cooperation between universities in China and Thailand but also broadened the international scope of art education and cultural exchange. Moving forward, Assumption University will continue to actively engage with Chinese universities, exploring broader academic and cultural interactions to promote the growth and development of Sino-Thai art and culture.
