Assumption University of Thailand (AU) proudly hosted a groundbreaking workshop on the treatment of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) using Prolonged Exposure Therapy, led by the esteemed Dr. Jon Blaw. The event, held on July 15th at the Hua Mak Campus in De Montfort Hall , Room D41, attracted a large audience of students eager to deepen their understanding of innovative psychological treatments.

Empowering Minds through Exposure Therapy
Dr. Jon Blaw captivated participants with his expertise in exposure therapy, a powerful method for treating trauma. His engaging presentation began by clarifying the differences between trauma and acute stress, emphasizing the necessity of addressing trauma due to its profound impact on individuals' lives.

Innovative Approaches to Healing
Dr. Jon introduced two primary approaches within exposure therapy:
In Vivo Exposure: Encourages clients to face real-life anxiety-inducing situations.
Imaginal Exposure: Guides clients to visualize their traumatic experiences.

Monitoring Progress for Optimal Results
A key component of Dr. Jon's methodology involves the regular assessment of clients' distress levels using the Subjective Units of Distress Scale (SUDS). This technique ensures a tailored and effective approach, gradually increasing the intensity of anxiety-inducing scenarios to empower clients in overcoming their trauma.

Success Stories Highlight the Impact
Dr. Jon concluded the workshop by sharing inspiring success stories, demonstrating the remarkable effectiveness of prolonged exposure therapy. The session's practical insights and evidence-based techniques left a lasting impression on attendees, highlighting the workshop's value for both academic and professional growth.

A Commitment to Professional Development
Rev. Bro. Bancha Saenghiran, President of AU, expressed his enthusiasm for the workshop's success: "At Assumption University of Thailand, we are dedicated to fostering professional development and innovation in our students. This workshop exemplifies our commitment to providing transformative learning experiences that equip our students with the skills to make a meaningful impact in the field of psychology."

Looking Ahead
The overwhelmingly positive reception of this workshop underscores AU's role as a leader in higher education, continually striving to offer exceptional opportunities for learning and growth. As we look forward to future events, we remain committed to empowering our students with the knowledge and tools needed to excel in their chosen fields.
