Assumption University of Thailand (AU) successfully hosted the "Facilitator Training for Higher Educators" on October 8-9, 2024, at the Seminar Room, De Montfort Hall, Hua Mak Campus. Organized by the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs, this two-day training aimed to equip higher educators with essential facilitator skills, enhancing their ability to foster a more engaging and dynamic learning environment for students.

The workshop ran from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM each day, featuring interactive sessions that focused on foundational facilitator skills, including verbal communication, question redirection, and positive reinforcement. Participants also explored methods for effectively handling group dynamics and utilizing visual aids like flip charts to enhance classroom discussions.

 
 

Day 1 introduced participants to the foundational aspects of facilitation, including the role of a facilitator, best practices for encouraging participation, and managing classroom interactions.

 
 
 

Day 2 built on these foundations with practical exercises involving recording techniques, visual communication, and preparing materials for interactive lab sessions.

The training was enriched by the contributions of esteemed faculty members, including Dr. Kitikorn Dowpiset, Dean of the Graduate School of Human Sciences; Asst. Prof. Dr. Maria Socorro Lacanlale Fernando, from the Graduate School of Business and Advanced Technology Management; and Asst. Prof. Dr. Orlando Rafael Gonzalez, also from the Graduate School of Human Sciences. Their expertise and insights helped make the workshop a valuable experience for all attendees.

The training provided participants with tools and strategies to create a more inclusive and collaborative learning atmosphere, vital for today’s education landscape.

Asst. Prof. Dr. Uree Cheasakul, Vice President for Academic Affairs, remarked, "This training was a wonderful opportunity for educators to refine their facilitation skills, ultimately enhancing their effectiveness in the classroom. It aligns with our mission to ensure continuous development for our faculty members, equipping them with the skills needed for a modern academic environment."
