In a landmark step for legal education in Southeast Asia, Assumption University of Thailand (AU) ’s Thomas Aquinas School of Law has formed a partnership with Universitas Mahasaraswati Denpasar (UNMAS) in Bali, Indonesia. The collaboration aims to elevate legal education, foster cross-cultural understanding, and enhance academic cooperation across the ASEAN region.

This innovative partnership marks a significant opportunity for both students and faculty in the fields of law and international relations. Key areas of collaboration include:

  1. Collaborative Research and Exchange Programs: Faculty and students from AU and UNMAS will engage in joint research projects, student exchange initiatives, and co-hosted seminars. These programs will expand the regional legal curriculum, providing students a comprehensive understanding of ASEAN legal systems and policies.
  2. Guest Lectures and Symposiums: A series of lectures, symposiums, and workshops, led by distinguished faculty and alumni from both universities, will address crucial topics in the field. Sessions will focus on international law, comparative legal systems, and emerging issues affecting Southeast Asian law, offering students an enriched academic perspective.
  3. Internship and Career Development Opportunities: Students from both institutions will benefit from cross-border internship placements, allowing them firsthand experience in various legal environments. These internships will prepare students for careers in transnational law and further the development of a dynamic legal community within ASEAN.

Representatives from AU and UNMAS expressed enthusiasm for the partnership’s potential impact on students, faculty, and the broader ASEAN legal community. This collaboration aligns with both institutions’ commitment to nurturing a new generation of legal professionals equipped to meet the challenges of a globalized legal landscape.
