On August 22, 2022, Ms. Penni Praisankul, President of the Taiwan Association of Thailand, along with her team visited Assumption University for a meeting with Mr. Nukul Chaisuriya, Director of Center for Sports and Physical Fitness (CSPF) and his team to discuss the use of John Paul II Sports Center for the Association’s team-building sporting event. After the meeting, Mr. Chaisuriya led Ms. Praisankul and her crew to survey John Paul II Sports Center, an indoor sports stadium consisting of indoor basketball courts, volleyball courts, futsal courts, a fitness center, four indoor badminton courts, three snooker tables, two squash courts, 25-meter aquatic center, an Olympic sized diving pool, and indoor swimming pool. The place can accommodate up to 3,000 spectators.
John Paul II Sports Center was first built on April 10, 2001 and completed on May 30, 2002. It was officially opened to the public on January 28, 2003. Fully equipped and facilitated, the Center has, then, hosted a large number of sports competitions of the University such as Tennis ABAC OPEN, AU Games for new students, and Martin’s Cup Swimming Championships, and also those of external units such as the 24th Universiade Bangkok 2007.
